AMBIENT LIGHTING

Ambient lighting is intended for general illumination of an area. Ambient interior lighting is set to become an important purchase driver for automakers as the complete driving experience becomes a key feature for consumers, whether for luxury, infotainment or safety purposes.

Furthermore, with the increasing introduction of ADAS and even autonomous vehicles it is set to become the primary brand differentiator.

But the need for having ambient lighting in cars goes beyond aesthetics.

A study commissioned by BMW and conducted by a team from the Ilmenau University of Technology in Germany showed ambient lighting helps increase spatial perception for the driver, eliminates fatigue and increases alertness.
